For a long time, people have wondered why certain personal cleansing products leave their skin feeling dry, and sometimes crackly or flaky. Some attribute this to genes or changes in the weather but the truth is that ingredients like alcohol and certain synthetic chemicals can leave it needing a moisturizer so that it will not peel or scar. That was until paraben free skin care products came on the market.

Though many think little of this, studies conducted show that these chemicals have the potential to present health concerns. Dry or flaky skin is somewhat minor but when the products used, including moisturizers, contain fillers and synthetic ingredients this can lead to serious health issues. This has influenced many personal care companies to go natural.

A paraben is a synthetic preservative that has been found in everyday items like toothpaste, cosmetics, moisturizers and other topical products. Even those items that are used occasionally, like suntan lotion, should be monitored. Studies have shown that products containing parabens can also expedite the aging process. When it doubt, it may be best for the consumer to use these sparingly, if at all.

The good news is that many paraben free products are better for appearance and many users say their skin feels better to the touch. The use of mostly, or pure, natural ingredients, can make a huge difference. While many cannot reverse time or correct most major imperfections, they help in providing real moisture without an oily feel.

Skin that is balanced, meaning it is not too dry or moist, tends to not suffer as much from scarring, flaking, and other imperfections that normally require lotion or cream as a form of treatment. Those that eliminate the excess chemicals can also help in treat common conditions. Many have found that these are far more effective in curing things like eczema and psoriasis than traditional treatments.

Though every type varies and some matters are best handled by a health care practitioner, switching to natural products could make a difference. By looking into those containing natural butters and vitamins, many find they do not need much else for better skin that is soft to the touch. Another interesting fact is that most of these are not expensive and are sold both online and major retailers.

Blueberries and grapefruit seeds have been shown to have traces of natural parabens. However, the synthetic ones should be avoided or have very limited use. Though many cosmetic companies no longer use paraben consumers should still check the labels carefully before making a purchase. Even if a product appears to be a good buy, some retailers may unaware of the potential dangers these products present.

By going online or visiting a library, one can find a world of current resources about the dangers of preservatives and their affect the consumer. This is not limited to personal care items, as certain foods have been known to contain this as well. The good thing is that many are choosing paraben free skin care products as part of their daily routine.
